The following comment were made during a radio session by young people talking bout different attitudes to work
“I want to earn alot of money- “that’z all i care bout it”
” i want a job that leaves me with plenty of free time “
“what matter to me me is job satisfaction. I only want to do a job that I really enjoy.”
I am writting in response to yesterday’s radio discussion on young people’s different attitudes to work. It sounded interesting that those yesterday’s three comments, in my opinion, covered the extents of the reason people choose their jobs.
Money is not everything, but everything needs money. That’s why, basically, I agree with “earning lots of money” as reason of choosing job. The price of oil, which affects every goods’ prices, has increased tremendously during past months. It has made cost of living as 100% increased as well as education fees, foods, and entertainments. The market value of money becomes less and less each day as we have seen the growing rate of inflation. The condition in underdeveloped and developing countries, such as Indonesia and South Africa, is even worst than most developed countries have imagined. They watch carefully to dollars, euros, poundsterling, and other major currencies, which affect their next day life. The life in these places are daily countings, which means what they could afford today is such a bless to eat and be sheltered at least tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. It is not a credit card-life that could be extended during a month. As the eldest in the family, who lives in developing country, I take this reason as logical account to afford my family adequately.
However, money is not the only reason behind work. If we committed ourselves only to work; that would be the biggest mistake we will extremely realize in old years. The compassion of family, love, and enjoying your own life are must. There is no meaning of money if we do not even feel the happiness on it. Money is earned to be spent for us and the rest of people that we love. There should be time left for this special occasion. Being overrated with works will only leave ourselves in such a stressful days.
The last opinion is the one that I mostly agree with. We will not make more money, if we do not like the job itself. Doing something that we love, will give more opportunity not only in earning more money but alsio self satisfaction. Working with passion will result on great outcome, which will make us and the stakeholders pleasure. This kind of working often be associated with art pieces, such as paintings and plays. However, they are not necessarily. Eventhough tiring, I love jobs that required travelling a lot because I love mobile, airports, and fond of meeting completly new people.
I am still on the lookout of the other’s opinions. Thank you for always raising interesting issues.
Yours sincerely,
